The Problem

Traditional attic floor insulation only slows conductive heat transfer and doesn't prevent your attic from heating up. Up to 93% of summer attic heat comes from radiant energy that passes right through the roof assembly, making your home hotter and driving up cooling costs.

The Solution

Radiant barrier coatings (IRCCs) reflect up to 85% of radiant heat before it enters your attic. Apply directly to roof surfaces for immediate heat reduction without removing existing insulation. Professional-grade performance in a DIY-friendly water-based formula.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each gallon covers approximately 400 square feet with a single coat (2,000 sqft/5 gal pail). Only 1 coat required.

Mix well prior to application with squirrel mixer and then use continuous agitation while spraying to keep coating in suspension. Apply with a standard airless or HVLP type sprayer (low pressure), 5-15 tip. Clean roof surfaces of dust and cobwebs first and mask any electrical outlets, then apply one even, thin coat to all roof surfaces. Works well on wood, OSB, and metal substrates.

Yes. Radiant barrier coatings work alongside existing insulation and enhance their effectiveness. Apply to attic roof decking and rafters above your current insulation for maximum heat reflection. If you intend to put other solid insulation in the roof rafters (i.e., finished attic/cathedral ceiling), be sure there is a 2" air space between LO/MIT and the solid insulation below and only paint the surfaces exposed to that air space.

All products include a lifetime performance warranty when applied according to manufacturer specifications. LO/MIT should not need to be re-coated for the life of the roof.
